Original Video Animation, also referred to as Original Animation Video (OAV). Direct-to-Video animation, often higher quality than syndicated TV shows, as the artistic folk are allowed more leeway with less deadlines. Some times a series will spring from an OVA, other times a series will diverge into a side-story OVA mini-series.
