Spam
Is there a reason I'm not aware of that there were a bunch of broken video links at the top of the front page? Some kind of spam? I'll copy them down below, but I dunno why there were there in the first place.... Andyscout 12:10, 26 August 2008 (PDT) Okay, nevermind. Obviously spam. Yup, it's spam. I have the changelog in my RSS reader to try to catch this kind of stuff, not sure why it didn't show up in that until you'd already changed it back. I still need to migrate everything to the new webserver, but with being flooded out of my apartment a couple weeks ago by a broken fire sprinkler (hopefully moving back in at the end of this week) things have been delayed a bit.

Timezone
I tweaked the timezone settings while I was at it, everything should be in Pacific Time right now (we're a California club after all, even if our servers are in Texas).

Logo Graphics
Hey Mike, look at the discussion @ Image:MNA_Logo_Wiki.gif. Also, can you edit the LocalSettings.php file line:
$wgFileExtensions = array( 'png', 'gif', 'jpg', 'jpeg', 'ogg' );
So that it will include
- ".ai" - Adobe Illustrator
- ".FH8" - Freehand 8
- ".wmf" - Windows Meta File (a simple pathbased image format, good for clipart)
- ".swf" - I've got the logos in Flash format too!

Alright, Ben. Done. Just be careful and don't take ALL our webspace just with MNA logos. I only gave this domain 250M, and that includes the main library site as well.

These files are tiny... shouldn't be any problem at all. Here, uploaded the new version. Not perfect, but a lot better. I may upload a full sized later.
--BenLeinweber 16:49, 23 April 2006 (PDT)
K, I swapped it in. Looks good to me. ^_^ --MikeWhipp 17:06, 23 April 2006 (PDT)
Ah man, "*.FH8" still isn't working... can you give that a look? --BenLeinweber
And for "*.WMF" I got the following error: Upload file From MinnaHistoryWiki Jump to: navigation, search Upload warning ".application/x-msmetafile" is not a recommended image file format. --BenLeinweber
Yeah, actually WMF is one of the blacklisted types because it can contain arbitrary code that executes on some systems. Also it's composed of windows 3.x API calls, so it's not the best format to use in general. SVG would be much better if we could figure out how to get things into that. --MikeWhipp 17:19, 23 April 2006 (PDT)
Hey Mike, I found a program that should be able to import .ai files and .ps and maybe even .eps files and then convert them to .svg. The program is multi-platform, but it looks like that several import features are missing from the windows version. Can you download the Linux version and see if you can indeed import .ai files? If so we should be set!

No spellchecker
Goddammit, it's frustrating that I can't speel worth a damn! Doesn't help that there is no speelchecker in this program. I guess I just need to copy all of my articles into Textpad before acutally saving them out. :( --BenLeinweber 21:46, 25 April 2006 (PDT)
Try installing Aspell and the Aspell English Dictionary from [2] and then the Aspellfox Firefox extention from [3]. Apparently it can spellcheck forms. --MikeWhipp 22:09, 25 April 2006 (PDT)
New Categories
If we have a Former Officers category, does it make sense to have a Former Members category?
--BenLeinweber 22:43, 25 April 2006 (PDT)
I've debated that and still am not sure. Perhaps it makes more sense to drop 'Former Officers' and just move everyone into 'Officers'? We don't distinguish between current and former holders of any particular position (partly since a category that can only ever have one member would be silly).
--MikeWhipp 07:49, 26 April 2006 (PDT)
While I agree with you on category:officers, I think a category:former members or category:MNA Alumni are warrented. At the very least, if not that, we should have a box writen at the top of the user page giving member status or something.

Open it up to the public
Hey Mike, I don't have much time right now, so no morning edits. I'm thinking however that we have put up almost enough content to open it up to the public. One thing we need is a sample anime description/review page (complete with a snapshot or two, and if avalible boxart, a link to its ANN or AoDVD or other review, and a member review (perhaps biased for and against the show). If we can get Nik or Nur to help out here, I'd do a point-counterpoint on Noir or Haibane.
The second thing we need is a story recorded in an aural voice, if that makes any sense. First person, and crazy as possible. Nik and Nur would help out great here.
The third thing we need to do is clean up the front page.
I think if we get these three things done, we can open it up to everyone!
