R2

R2 refers to the DVD Region code affixed on most Japanese DVDs. Region 2 refers to The Middle East, Western Europe, Central Europe, Egypt, French overseas territories, Greenland, Japan, Lesotho, South Africa and Swaziland.

Region codes limit the ability for DVDs playback by player, though there are workarounds for some players, and other players ignore region coding all-together.
